Possibly a Bolete spp. judging by the perimeter of the cap; perhaps when you next see one of these consider taking a pic of the lower surface to show the gills or pores and the entire stem

Your photos are an excellent demonstration of the need to see what's under the cap! You can see that the underside does not have pores. Instead, there are short, stubby spines. This is probably a species of Phellodon. If you look at just the upper surface you cannot be sure of even the genus.
